OK, we made up the word, but it’s not too hard to figure out. “Earth”—where we all live, plus “keeper”—a protector or guardian. Put them together and ta-da—a new way to call someone who cares about the environment. Earthkeepers is a network of people that motivates behavior change – small steps that can make a difference when spread across a global community. Earthkeepers are people doing small things, like recycling, biking instead of driving and using energy-efficient light bulbs. And people doing bigger things, like replanting eroded areas and retrofitting their engines to run on biofuel.
Well, you could start by buying our Earthkeepers™ boots… Kidding, but in all seriousness, you can become an Earthkeeper by pledging to make environmentally sustainable changes to your everyday life. Live close to work? Hop on a bike instead of driving. Live in the city? Look into greening your apartment’s rooftop. Even something as small as planting a single tree in your yard can make a difference. You can also be an Earthkeeper by purchasing locally grown, sustainable foods and earth conscious products. The more eco-conscious products and companies you choose to buy from, the more eco- conscious products and companies there will be. Your wallet has the power to make companies take better care of our planet, so use it already! Join the Earthkeepers movement to share your eco-actions on the message board and learn how others are earthkeeping. By sharing the knowledge, we can make a difference.
Joining the Earthkeepers movement is about much more than monthly drawings, free music downloads, special product offers, and access to totally exclusive Earthkeeper events – which, by the way, are all benefits of joining. It’s about building a global community of people who believe in a sustainable future and believe in the power of sharing their ideas on minimizing their eco footprint and learning from others. So join the Earthkeepers movement and connect with others who care about the Earth.
With so many expensive eco-trends out there, it’s easy to dismiss saving the planet as “too-costly” or “inconvenient”. That’s just not true. There are plenty of inexpensive, very easy Earthkeeping activities you can start doing today. Recycling paper and plastic is one great way to reuse our limited resources and cut down on landfill accumulation. Carpooling to work can also help cut down on emissions, and shopping locally reduces fuel consumption and wasted shipping materials. You can weatherstrip your home or just replace your old, incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient CFL bulbs. With so many easy, eco-conscious options, it’s not too hard to become an Earthkeeper and no, it’s not expensive.Join the movement and start Earthkeeping RIGHT NOW!

Everyone needs to do their part – including us. We started Earthkeepers because we love the outdoors. Of course, we realize that by making our products, we’re part of the problem. We believe it’s time for companies, like ours, to take a look at how the way they do business affects the environment and do something about it. Earthkeepers is one way we’re trying to do exactly that. We’re taking steps to reduce our impact, like cutting back our emissions, using renewable energy and putting more organic and recycled materials in our gear. Our Timberland® Earthkeepers™ collection uses materials like recycled PET linings, organic cotton and leathers from tanneries achieving Leather Working Group silver rated status for industry leading water, waste and energy management.Look here for more info on what we’re doing to improve the way we operate.
